Tips for Hiring a Home Cleaning Service

We all want to have a clean and well-organized home. Unfortunately, with so many responsibilities with family and work, it can be difficult to have enough time to keep up with house work.  If you find yourself in that situation, it may be time to hire someone to keep your home looking spic-and-span for you.

Hiring a home cleaning service is popular because it generally produces excellent results, comes with recommendations for review, and fills the demand for professional cleaning. When you plan to hire a home cleaning service, consider the following tips:

  • Scout for more than one cleaning service company. Do not immediately open your door to the first home cleaning service you find. Always check around with other companies first to be sure you are getting the best deal.  There are home cleaning companies that have limited services and others that charge too much, so you want to be sure you are getting everything you need for the right price.
  • Create a written contract. Your home cleaning person will be inside the house and will be cleaning almost every area of your home. You are entrusting your possessions to your home cleaning service, so make sure you have every detail of their services in writing. In case you ever encounter problems, you can refer to your contract for how to deal with the situation.
  • Seek referrals from trusted people. When you hire a cleaning person, you are entrusting your home to them, so you need be sure you choose someone reliable.  Ask for recommendations from your friends, relatives, and neighbors so you can access people who have already been vouched for as being trustworthy and hard working.
  • Make your instructions clear before you let your cleaning person go to work. If you have specific instructions on how to clean your room or feed your pet, tell them beforehand so they know what to do. You can even leave notes for them to reference.
  • Give a tip. Leaving a tip is nothing new for service-based jobs. When your cleaning person finishes their work, give them a small tip. It will be much appreciated and will also let them know that they did a god job and that you are pleased with their work.
  • Let your cleaning person do their job. Do not be a control freak and look over their shoulder the entire time. It will only annoy them and prevent them from doing their job.  When you hire them, that means you are entrusting them to handle your cleaning for you.  It doesn’t save you any time if you’re monitoring them that closely.
