Guest Room Design Tips

Being able to accommodate a guest in your house is a delightful feeling. You can show your hospitality by offering them a comfortable place to stay in your guest room, which can easily be created by designing the room in a functional and elegant way. Ideally, a guest room should reflect hints of the homeowner’s personality without being overwhelming.

Here are some ways to make your guest more comfortable, warm, and inviting:

  1. Before you start mapping out decor choices such as furniture, paint, and ammenities, consider who your frequent guests will be and the size of the space your are decorating. This is the foundation for creating the perfect guest room.
  2. It is best to opt for neutral tones for your wall treatment. Aim for something that will be pleasing to everybody so that, regardless of the different types of people you will entertain, they will feel comfortable enough to get a good night’s sleep. Neutral colored walls paired with a colorful comforter and matching drapes is a perfect combination for creating a cheerful, welcoming ambience.
  3. Incorporate low lighting into the design of your guest room. Add some small pretty night lights or a small Tiffany style lamp to the end table. Make sure that the room is well-lit during the day and that there is also enough light for them to be able to safely maneuver at night if they need to get up to go to the bathroom.
  4. Provide a comfortable bed.  Be sure to provide extra blankets or an electric blanket for cold nights, as well as a nice selection of comfortable pillows.
  5. Stock some toiletries in the room. You can place a basket of toiletries on the dresser that includes shampoo, toothpaste, soap, razors, toothbrushes, and combs. Also provide fresh clean towels, so they won’t have to ask for them.
  6. Leave space for your guests to keep their belongings. Have a couple of empty drawers in the dresser or set aside extra space in the closet.
